Rockville, a residential suburb located 4km north-west of the Toowoomba CBD started life as a small community outside of Toowoomba named Willowburn. The name permanently changed to Rockville in 1981.
Rockville has a strong farming and industry heritage. Even today the eastern edge of the suburb is home to an industrial area with some large tracts of vacant land.
Baillie Henderson Hospital is located in the suburb and is important for its associate with the development of mental health care in Queensland since 1890. This complex is heritage listed.
A state school, the RSPCA and Wheat Research Institute are located in Rockville. It also has a small shopping centre and is serviced by a bus route with good access to hospitals, schools and churches.
Rockville has some older style brick homes with good bones and nice colonials ripe for renovation. It also has a new housing estate with modern brick homes.
