South Toowoomba, a residential suburb, is immediately adjacent and to the south of the Toowoomba CBD. It is about 4km2 and has 8 parks covering nearly 19% of the total area.
The South Toowoomba School openend in 1865 and was Toowoomba’s first school. In 1873 St Saviours Catholic College opened. The largest institution in the suburb, the Toowoomba Hospital has been on site since the 1870’s. The suburb is also home to the City Golf Club.
South Toowoomba has seen mixed housing styles from the early 1900’s onwards. There are many small workers cottages intermingled with new brick housing and chamfer on brick in both restored and unrestored condition.
There is a local shopping complex, access to public transport, and great local schools.
